Course details

Today's media industry workers and specifically journalists are expected to have a high degree of production and broadcasting knowledge but also core journalistic skills.

Broadcast Journalism is aimed at applicants wishing to pursue a career in journalism within the broadcasting sector. The course is delivered at University Centre Hastings, which houses high-end industry-standard broadcast media facilities, including a fully operational radio station and television studio.

Career and progression opportunities

Graduates are expected to find employment within a range of radio, television and cross-platform broadcasting environments in the public service or commercial sectors.

Entry requirements

A-levels: BBC (typically translates to 280 points in the UCAS tariff). Must include grade B in mathematics at A-level. Free-standing mathematics units are excluded. Applicants with only 2 full A-levels or a double award will be considered on an individual basis.
International Baccalaureate: 30 points, specified subjects.
QAA-approved access course: individual assessment.
GCSE (minimum grade C): at least 3 subjects including mathematics and English language.
Foundation degree/HND direct to year 2 or 3.
For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.0 overall, 6.0 in writing.
