Introduction

MA Journalism Broadcast students sweep the boards for the BJTC Radio Student of the Year Awards at a ceremony at ITNs London HQ

This highly regarded course at one of the UK's premier media schools is intended for students planning a career in journalism.

The course is designed to equip graduates with the practical and intellectual skills necessary for a career in either print and/or online media, or in broadcast journalism. Theres a strong emphasis on learning through hands-on practice. Your course-work assignments will be practical journalism assignments. They want their students to be well versed in convergent journalism, and all are encouraged to post stories, pictures, audio and video regularly on their multi-media news website.

The course also includes work experience placements, and presents many other opportunities: for several years some students have had the chance to join NATO or British naval and military exercises as embedded journalists, sometimes even reporting on board ship.

There has been an exchange with journalism students from Moscow State University, and a trip to the European Parliament and Commission.

MA Journalism graduates go on to good jobs in TV, Radio, print or online media. Recent graduates are working at Sky TV and Online, ITN, BBC Radio current affairs, BBC TV News, Online and World Service, LBC News radio The Guardian, Financial Times, Daily Telegraph, Elle magazine, Conde Nast, many specialist publications, local newspapers and radio stations.
