The B.A. in English Philology is concerned with the study of the languages, literatures and cultures of the English-speaking world (except North America).
Students attend courses and lectures in Linguistics (diachronic and synchronic), Literary Studies, Cultural Studies, Medieval English Literature, Academic English and (optional) English Language Pedagogy.
In completing the programme, students have acquired crucial academic and career skills, including research methods, excellent command of the English language as well as practical work experience. The Bachelor's degree qualifies graduates for both a professional career (e.g., in the media, in cultural administration etc.) or postgraduate studies (particularly in English Philology, Literary Studies, Linguistics, Medieval Studies, Cultural Studies or Postcolonial Studies). Students who have completed the Bachelor's degree with a teacher training option can apply for a Master's programme in teacher training.
