This binational Master's programme is aimed at students with an excellent first degree who are interested in acquiring a postgraduate qualification in German as a foreign language/Intercultural and Comparative German Studies with a special focus on the economic, cultural and linguistic relations between the Spanish-speaking world and the German-speaking countries.
M.A. students will develop skills in
- linguistics and applied linguistics of German in educational settings (facilitators of language acquisition, German grammar, lexicography of German, discourse analysis and German for specific purposes, trends and developments in contemporary German, rhetoric and pronunciation, testing and evaluation, analysis and development of teaching material, translating and mediating in Spanish-German contexts)
- German Cultural Studies and its relevance in language teaching processes
- German literature and its role in language teaching processes (with special emphasis on contemporary German and Austrian Literature, on German-Spanish cultural and literary transfer, on intercultural and political implications of literary texts, on new approaches in German literary studies [literature of migration, gender studies, regional literatures])
A specific strength of the programme consists in its integrated work placement module, which is well integrated into the degree course and is organised in conjunction with a number of highly reputable Spanish and German institutions operating in the education and culture sector.
