Educational requirements: BA in Communication Studies, Linguistics, or in a modern language.
Language requirements: TOEFL (minimum score: 600 (paper-based) or 250 (computer-based)
Other requirements: Average score of 7.5 in the 2nd and 3rd year of a Dutch Bachelor's programme, or equivalent. Your Bachelor's thesis should score at least 8.
Objectives: The goal is to educate students to become skilled empirical linguists with a deep understanding of language and communication. The primary goal of the programme is academic training, which makes it ideal for those wishing to embark on a research career. But it also caters for the growing demand from the public and private sectors for people with academic insight and research skills.
Subjects: The programme has four key focus areas: communication and information sciences; language and speech technology; language variation and acquisition; the theory and structure of language. We use empirical research techniques to focus on language as it’s actually used. And we explore language and communication as an integrated whole.
Modes of instruction: Lectures, seminars, workshops, presentations, practical meetings.
