The Master's degree course in Translatology prepares students for a professional occupation in the field of specialist intercultural communication in practical applications, teaching or research. Students can choose either a more research-oriented emphasis (Applied Linguistics) or a more application-oriented emphasis (Specialised Translation).

The target of the course is to acquire

  • the necessary methodological knowledge
  • abilities and skills in the fields of translatology
  • specialist communication
  • language technology
  • terminology and specialist translation
  • enabling students
    • to analyse specialist texts, interpret their content correctly in the language of origin and transfer them to the target language with due consideration of all translation-relevant internal and external text factors, ensuring the desired quality and using suitable technical aids,
    • to handle translation projects with due orientation to practice and standards,
    • to steer and assess translation quality.
