The specialisation International and European Public Law focuses on the public law aspects of international and European law and on how these bodies of law impact national legal orders. More in particular, it focuses on the role of international and European law in fostering the protection of human rights, the rule of law and the accountability of international and European institutions.
Students may focus their studies on both areas of law or may choose to specialize in either Access to Justice, European and International Economic Law or Constitutionalisation of Law beyond the state. Besides general courses in public international and European law, either Human Rights Law or European Institutional and Constitutional Law is a compulsory course.
As a graduate you will have the skills to critically and constructively analyse contemporary issues in international and European Law. You will also have a deepened insight into the theory and practice of International and European law in an interdisciplinary context. An excellent start to an international career! Career opportunities for persons with a specialisation in Public International Law present themselves, in particular, in national administrations, international organisations, multinational companies, the legal professions, NGOs and academia.
