Educational requirements: LL.B. in law.

Language requirements: TOEFL (minimum score: paper based: 600, computer based: 250, internet based: 100); IELTS (minimum score: overall band: 6.5, listening: 6.0, reading: 6.0, writing: 6.0, speaking: 6.0), Cambridge CPE: A,B,C; CAE: A,B, C+

Other requirements: CV, LL.B., letters of recommendation, an essay written in English and an interview. Also a letter of motivation will be requested.

Objectives: Graduates will have extensive knowledge of the research field of either ius commune or human rights. They will have skills of how to present research carried out and how to write a scholarly article or a successful research proposal. Graduates will be able to work in research groups inside and outside academia (law firms, judiciary, governments, international organisations, etc.).

Subjects: Examples of modules are: Master classes on issues of 'ius commune' (is there a need for uniform law in Europe, how is it done and what are the effects in the national legal systems) and human rights (how to promote and protect human rights). Presentation skills, research methods.

Modes of instruction: Classes are small and highly interactive with intensive discussion. Throughout the programme, there is a continuous emphasis on oral and written presentation skills. Second year is partly spent abroad.
