Course overview
The LLB (Hons) European Legal Studies Programme, aims to provide up to 20 Southampton LLB students with an opportunity to combine their UK undergraduate studies with a year abroad, by studying law in a European jurisdiction.
Students spend a full academic year (their third year), at a designated EU University, (see below), thereby becoming participants in the Erasmus Exchange programme.
Students study aspects of the legal system and substantive law of that country and in the host language thereby developing their foreign language skills. Students should aim to study 4 courses in each semester, resulting in a total 60 ECTS.
Participating students complete the LLB programme in 4 years, rather than the usual 3 years and are awarded the degree of LLB (Hons) European Legal Studies in recognition of their European legal skills.
