About the programme

This MA is associated with the Centre for Literature and Philosophy .

The MA in Critical Theory at Sussex is one of the best-known and longest-running in the UK. It currently draws in particular on teaching and research interests in psychoanalysis, Marxism, postcolonialism, deconstruction, visual culture, feminism and queer theory. This course provides students with the opportunity to study in depth the work of theorists and thinkers only superficially encountered at undergraduate level.

The Critical Theory MA at Sussex has a well-established international reputation as a selfcontained course of study but also as an excellent foundation for doctorate work, whether in English or Philosophy or another Humanities discipline.
