Baltic Management Studies is an international course, building on local tradition and relationships in the Baltic Sea Region. It is, however, thoroughly modern and has been specially designed to cover the needs of the globalising economy.

Baltic Management Studies is conducted in English and builds on an introduction to "normal" Business Studies. The initial three semester have an extra focus on shaping students' international awareness. Business English is compulsory, as is one language from the Baltic Sea Region - Danish, Estonian, Finnish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, or Swedish - and our international students have to attend the lecture: German as a Foreign Language. The Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian language classes take place in Greifswald.

The intensive language training and the focus on intercultural skills prepare students for doing business on an international scale. Theoretical knowledge is deepened by trips inside and outside Germany as well as through guest lecturers from partner universities or from the business world.

The modular structure of this degree course offers the flexibility to study abroad and to do the mandatory internship in any one of semester four to seven. These are integral parts of the course.

The philosophy of Baltic Management emphasises the importance of face-to-face class work, combined with state-of-the-art teaching methods, real-world case studies, group work and research.

The European Credit Transfer System, which is used at our university, ensures international comparison and guarantees easy recognition of credits earned abroad by the Fachhochschule Stralsund - University of Applied Sciences.

The double degree programmes, with our partner universities, will give you the chance to obtain degrees from universities in Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Russia at present, but more agreements on double degrees are due to be signed in the near future.

Final year students write a dissertation on international topics, which prepares them for an international career with an excellent perspective on the labour market. Your Bachelor's thesis, at the end of your studies, is the entrance qualification for postgraduate programmes.
