Course description
The Management/Management (Specialism) degree programmes have a common first year, which provides a grounding in the disciplines underlying management. There are courses (compulsory) in accounting and finance, economics, psychology, sociology, quantitative methods, business law and an introduction to the study of management. Since the Management and Management (Specialism) degrees are identical in the first year, transfer between them is straightforward, so you should apply for only one of them.
Graduates from this specialism are attracted to organisations with an international focus, be it through export, agencies or manufacturing in a global market place. Career development may be focused in marketing, operations, finance and investment, or human resource management. You choose 40% of your second-year courses and at least 60% of your final-year courses from international studies core courses.
Career opportunities
As a Management graduate you have many careers open to you in business and management in the public and private sectors, often related to your specialism. Their graduates become IT Managers, Chartered Accountants, Management Consultants, Human Resource Managers, Production Managers and so on - the list is a long one. Many go on to study for higher degrees in a wide range of areas.
