Introduction
The entry of the HIV/AIDS epidemic into rural areas has greatly depleted populations' productive resources. The consequences to livelihoods are severe - in terms not only of income and food security, but also of gender equality.
This Master's programme reflect a profound understanding of the complex relationship between development and HIV/AIDS and the programme ensures that participants acquire the skills they need to apply this understanding in practice.
Course structure
This one-year course consists of 1.) a nine-month teaching period and 2.) a three-month research project culminating in a thesis. It involves a series of competency-building modules that advance your disciplinary expertise and hone your professional skills.
The Rural Development and HIV/Aids programme consists of the following modules:

Admission requirements
To be eligible for admission you have to meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.
- A minimum of two years' relevant working experience. A good working knowledge of spoken and written English (TOEFL score of 600 or more).
- Applicants have to prove this proficiency, for example by submitting certificates issued by a recognised language institute such as TOEFL or the British Council. Computer literacy (Windows, Word, Excel, and Internet use) is required.
