Educational requirements: BSc degree in community development, agriculture home economics, nutrition, primary health care or one of the social sciences.
Professional experience required: Relevant working experience.
Language requirements: Non-native English speakers, who did not take secondary education in English, are requested to prove their English proficiency TOEFL 550 IELTS 6.0.
Other requirements: Computing skills and proficiency in English.
Objectives: To analyse the gender differential contribution towards rural livelihood food security; to mainstream gender in agricultural and rural development programmes and projects; to assess the impact of rural policies on men and women; to develop strategies to work towards gender equality; to develop and conduct gender training; to work as a gender specialist in a multi-disciplinary team.
Subjects: Organisational and institutional analysis and management; communication and leadership approaches; rural livelihood; external influences on rural livelihoods; project planning and manangement; contemporary agricultural policies and approaches; contemporary rural development policies and approaches; gender planning and mainstreaming; research strategies and methods; study skills.
Modes of instruction: Competence-based learning through case studies, projects, role-play, simulations, practical assignments, and lectures.
