Course Description

This MSc course deals with urban management in Europe and welcomes people from all over the world who want to learn from the European experience.  Using literature, research experiences and by inviting guest lecturers from different countries a variety of issues concerning urban management is presented and discussed, such as management of metropolitan regions, urban revitalization and social exclusion, city marketing, public private partnerships, urban tourism and metropolitan organizing capacity.

Required Qualifications

Candidates for the course are supposed to have a strong interest in urban management, and to look at metropolitan issues from the managerial point of view. This Postgraduate Master of Science is interdisciplinary in nature and welcomes graduates from the following disciplines: Economics, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, History, Architecture, Business, Civil Engineering, Law or Public Administration.

Applicants from other disciplines may also apply if they have a special interest in the course - they will be judged individually by the academic committee. Applicants may fit either one of the following descriptions:

  • Recent Graduates from the disciplines stated above;
  • PhD students and Post-Docs willing to enlarge their knowledge in one or more aspects of Urban Management;
  • Professionals, such as junior managers, with the ambition to work as urban planners, project developers, real estate officers, urban consultants, and urban engineers in a leading urban-management position.

Applicants are expected to have an adequate basis for taking on an academic course, that is, at least have a Bachelor's diploma. Since the course is international, proficiency in English is another prerequisite. The course welcomes students from all over the world.
