Course Describtion

Management Science, or operational Research, involves applying a wide variety of methods and approaches to real-life problems in organisations. If you are a numerate graduate, with a quantitative (but not necessarily highly mathematical) background, this programme will equip you for a vast range of exciting careers in the public and private sectors.

Optional units are shared with the MSc Operational Research offered by the School of Mathematics. Most dissertation projects involve either a placement or working closely with a company or other external organisation. This MSc is supported by the EPSRC, and recognised by the ESRC as a specialist master’s research programme.

Optional Modules

• A vast range of modules are available across the Schools of Mathematics and Management, including specialist OR/MS techniques and application areas such as healthcare, risk and finance, in which the staff are known internationally for their research. Students are counselled on their choice of options in the light of their backgrounds and their objectives.

Entry requirements

• First or upper second-class honours degree from a UK university, or equivalent overseas/professional qualification
• Some quantitative study as part of engineering, sciences, finance or economics
• Mathematics not essential
