About the programme

This programme provides you with a robust appreciation of the distinct and integrated measures taken by managers and specialists to deal with the issue of risk management. You gain a sound theoretical understanding of risk management in the worlds of finance, enterprise and operations, as well as gaining practical knowledge to enable you to judge risk, reduce its impact and to skilfully finance it.

Programme structure

There are four core modules focusing on

  • Managing operational risks
  • Financing risks
  • Measuring and modelling risks
  • Strategic management of enterprise risks.

Career opportunities

This is a vocational programme with applications to a variety of risk management and strategy-focused careers, including finance, auditing, business development, corporate risk, insurance, consultancy, product development, government and disaster response. It also has relevance in general and specialist management roles.

Admission requirements

For admission to postgraduate business and management programmes, applicants normally need to have either:

  • An undergraduate honours degree from a recognised/accredited university with a minimum 2.2 classification, or equivalent. Note that ideally this would be in one of the more numerate disciplines of business, management, technology, engineering or similar.
  • Pass in a recognised Premaster’s or Master’s Qualifying Programme

In the case of applicants whose first language is not English, then IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) is required.

Students that apply to enter stages of the programme may be admitted through normal Accreditation of Experiential Learning (AEL) or Accreditation of Certificated Learning (ACL) processes, or through an approved articulation agreement.
