As strategic management is an essential general management skill, it prepares you for a career in management. In addition, strategic management is also essential in either internal consulting or external consulting. The Master’s programme in Strategic Management will highlight the professional challenges and responsibilities that you will face in both career types. You will also be given tools to develop critical and independent thinking and general problem-solving skills.
The programme consists of 60 Credits (ECTS), equivalent to 1680 hours of study, offered over two semesters. The first semester starts in September, with exams in December and January. The second semester runs from January to June, but is divided in two. From January to March, you will take two courses. From April on, you will be able to focus on writing your Master’s Thesis.
The Master’s in Strategic Management prepares for two career types. The first career option is in consulting. This could be either internal consulting (i.e., advising the organisation the graduate is employed by) or external consulting (i.e., advising clients of the organisation the graduate is employed by). Starting positions include, for example, strategic planning associate, business analyst, and junior consultant.
Secondly, strategic management is an essential general management skill. Therefore, the Master’s programme in Strategic Management also prepares for a career in management. Starting positions are, for example, management trainee, (assistant) project manager and strategic planner.
FEB Bachelor's
If you have a FEB Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Business, Business Studies or Information Management (including the course Organisatie van de Onderneming), you will have access to the Master in Strategic Management. The premaster in Strategic Management als gives access to the Master's programme.
