In the PhD Programme of the Bonn International Graduate School in Mathematics the doctoral student will work under the supervision of a professor on a research project leading to a PhD Thesis as an independent piece of research. The school is a part of the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics, a cluster of excellence funded by the German government. The standard duration is 3 years, and the degree earned is the "Doctor of Natural Sciences - Dr. rer nat.". A first degree is required; this will usually be a master degree, but in exceptional cases a bachelor degree may suffice.
For PhD students, education through research at the highest level is the driving force of our efforts. Lecture courses at a high academic level, seminars on advanced levels, guest lecturers from all over the world, summer and winter schools, and workshops on recent developments create a challenging scientific atmosphere.
