The study profile of the MSc in Mathematics is shaped by the faculty’s research foci. In the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, the subject area of mathematics is structured into six institutes with 17 professorships.
The MSc in Mathematics offers a range of specialisation options in the form of various fields of study. The specialisation areas have to be supplemented by complementary studies in other areas of mathematics. This structure aims to offer students a transparent, broad and high-quality mathematical education whilst, at the same time, making it possible for them to specialise in a particular mathematical area. The fields of study reflect the faculty’s mathematical research foci and important application areas.
The career prospects for well-educated mathematicians have not changed for years and are very good. As the degree teaches very general skills, graduates can be found in the classical professions (teaching, banking, insurance, business consultancy and IT) but also in other sectors.
Leibniz Universität Hannover offers a variety of accompanying advice, information and interdisciplinary skills courses on entry into a profession.
