Mechanical Engineering: University of Twente

Educational requirements: BSc in relevant subject; within top 25% of generation (or higher depending on status of university).

Language requirements: IELTS (minimum score: 6.5)

Objectives: The programme aims at educating engineers for constructive engineering and design functions and for engineering research (incl. PhD). The graduates are able to handle the entire process of design, modeling, manufacturing and operation. The students learn to solve multidisciplinary problems and integrate technical as well as non-technical aspects in their solutions.

Subjects: The programme has a 2-angled structure: students choose a profile and a specialization. The 3 profiles are in research, design and management. The specializations are in applied mech; automation; biomech; design eng; fluid dyn; laser techn; production; composites; surface techn and thermal rng. Also there are fixed programmes in ind. design and manufacturing, mechatronics and sustainable energy.

Modes of instruction: The programme includes one year of theory courses, an internship and a graduation project (including the master thesis). Theory classes, assignments and lab work are included in the courses. Students participate within the research groups as a junior researcher and become used to the academic habits and values.
