Introduction

The University of Westminster offer students a lively, flexible, challenging and professional course of full-time study and practice in illustration. They recognize illustration as an exciting, broad, and diverse area of visual practice bringing together the expressive, imaginative and image-based practices associated with fine art, with the conceptual challenges and communication requirements of graphic design.

The course aims

The Course aims to provide a programme which supports each student in the development of their individual practice, whilst also enabling you to develop a range of practical, intellectual and professional skills which will support your career in the future, whether you continue as practitioner or enter other areas of work.

Professional Opportunity

In helping students prepare for professional work they encourage participation in national and international competitions and work-placments. There are exhibition opportunities and industry led initiatives open to students at all levels of the course.

Academic Qualification

Home students

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C and above – you must have grade C English and Maths.
  • GCE A LEVEL  - 2 A levels at Grade C -160 points and above, and / or BTEC National Diploma MMP/BTEC National Certificate MM
  • Students applying from Access courses in Art & Design need a Distinction or predicted Distinction.

Students from abroad

  • Equivalent grades are accepted from overseas applicants, e.g. those with an International Baccalaureate.
  • Applicants from non-English speaking countries are normally expected to possess a qualification in English language as follows:
    • (Advanced) Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency grade C or above
    • I.E.L.T.S.  6.0 or above
    • T.O.E.F.L.  550 or above
