Course Description
This programme explores human nature, the relationship between the individual and society, and the nature of social institutions.
There are four units from each subject every year, or you can substitute one unit from a third subject.
- Both disciplines will develop your range of critical and analytical skills and you will benefit from this common factor whilst having the opportunity to study a wide variety of themes.

- During your degree you will be given ample opportunity to develop your own thoughts on philosophical subjects and engage in philosophical debate.
- You will study in depth the work of some of the great philosophers, from Plato to Wittgenstein and beyond, who have addressed a wide range of issues.
- During your first year, you will be introduced to the main areas of philosophical interest and methods of critical thought, and in later years you can either follow a diversity of interests or develop more specialised knowledge.
