BSc Physics with Astrophysics: University of Sussex

About the programme

If you are interested in astrophysics, but want the flexibility to sample other physics topics, this is the degree for you. For the first two years you follow the Astrophysics programme, and gain a sound knowledge of a range of astrophysics topics. During the third and fourth years you continue to take some astrophysics courses, but you are also able to focus on other topics and can choose either a physics or an astrophysics topic for your final-year project.

Admission requirments

A level

• Typical offer: in the range AAB-BBB, including both Mathematics and Physics
• Specific entry requirements: A levels (or equivalent) must include both Mathematics and Physics.

International Baccalaureate

• 32 to 36 points overall, including at least 5 in both Higher Level Mathematics and Higher Level Physics

English language requirements

• IELTS 6.0, with 6.0 in each of the four components.
• Internet-based TOEFL with 80 overall, including at least 22 in Speaking and 24 in Writing.
• The University also accepts a range of other qualifications:
  • GCSE or IGCSE English as a first language: grade C.
  • GCSE English or IGCSE as a second language: grade B.
  • Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English (CAE): grade B.
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): grade C.
  • Cambridge English Language 1119: between grades 1 and 6.
