BSc Physics with Business & Management: The University of Manchester

Course description

This course provides a coherent combination of subjects of interest to the student whose primary aim is a degree in physics but who wishes also that have an excellent background in the techniques of business and management, especially as applied to science-based commerce and industry.

The study of physics is enhanced by placing the professional work activities of physicists in research, commercial and industrial settings, explaining their role in these settings and the commercial and operational contexts of their activities. You are also introduced to a range of methods used in organisational management and acquire the ability, knowledge and skills which underlie the management process.

Career opportunities

The wide range of physics, mathematics and business and management topics studied enables graduates to pursue many different career paths. Students grounding in both experimental physics and the management of people and resources provides an excellent background for research. Other career possibilities include science and management jobs, business analysis, patents, intellectual property and computing related work.

Entry requirements

• English language: Minimum grade C in English Language. IELTS - minimum 6.0. TOEFL - minimum 213 (computer-based) or 550 (paper-based) or 80 (internet based).
• A level: AAA-AAB
• Unit grade information: The University of Manchester welcomes the provision of unit grade information which, like all other available information, will inform the consideration of applications.
• GCSE: Minimum grade C in English Language.
• Key Skills qualification: The University warmly welcomes applications from students studying the Key Skills qualification.
• International Baccalaureate: 37-33 points overall including minimum of 5-6 points in Mathematics and Physics at Higher level.
