About the programme

This degree offers the greatest flexibility. In the core courses, you will learn the foundation of physics that you will need for your further and more specialised studies, including classical mechanics, electrodynamics, special relativity and quantum mechanics but also atomic physics, solid-state physics and nuclear and particle physics.

They offer many options to suit your interests including advanced courses in atomic physics, solidstate physics, and nuclear and particle physics, as well as astrophysics. This allows you to specialise in one particular science strand or choose strands from a quite different subject area. Options are available from the very beginning of your studies to meet your interests.

Admission requirments

A level

• Typical offer: in the range AAB-BBB, including both Mathematics and Physics
• Specific entry requirements: A levels (or equivalent) must include both Mathematics and Physics.

International Baccalaureate

• 32 to 36 points overall, including at least 5 in both Higher Level Mathematics and Higher Level Physics.

English language requirements

• IELTS 6.0, with 6.0 in each of the four components.
• Internet-based TOEFL with 80 overall, including at least 22 in Speaking and 24 in Writing.
• The University also accepts a range of other qualifications:
  • GCSE or IGCSE English as a first language: grade C.
  • GCSE English or IGCSE as a second language: grade B.
  • Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English (CAE): grade B.
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): grade C.
  • Cambridge English Language 1119: between grades 1 and 6.
