Courses in modules will be held mainly during the first three semester. The first semester will be governed by introductory courses, the second by core courses, and the third by elective courses and lab rotations for specialisation. The fourth semester is mainly devoted to the Master's thesis and an accompanying research seminar.
The Master's course aims at a focused education in modern biophysics, with a particular emphasis to the molecular view on biomolecules as cellular machines. It relates the concepts of biophysics and soft matter physics to the new field of nanophysics/nanotechnology, acknowledging the fact that both fields share a wide selection of methods and technologies, and that biomolecules can be ideal study and model objects for functional nanosystems.
