PHYSICS has a duration of four semester. The focus of the programme is on Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics. During the first two semester, there will be lectures, seminars and the Advanced Physics Laboratory. All the courses without exception are at postgraduate level and will not only provide an extensive introduction but will also deepen knowledge of the most important areas of modern Physics.
During the last two semester, students concentrate on their Master's thesis which can be undertaken either at one of the participating institutes of the Universität Stuttgart or one of the two Max-Planck-Institutes on campus (MPI for Solid State Research and MPI for Metals Research). Whilst working on their thesis, students are directly involved in a research project on either Theoretical or Experimental Physics.
The credits comply with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The curriculum is shown in detail on our website at: http://www.msc.physics.uni-stuttgart.de
International students are offered a six-week, intensive, Intercultural Training programme which has a strong German component. This, together with the "Welcome Service" of the University of Stuttgart, will provide you with the help you need when making your first steps towards starting your studies and feeling at home in a new environment.
