Course Description

This programme is suitable both for students wishing to carry out further research and those seeking careers in areas where knowledge of contemporary political issues is significant. There is a considerable range of options to allow for the development of specialist interests.

The programme:

• examines how theories and practices of citizenship are responding to challenges such as multiculturalism, mass migration, and globalisation
• considers the state of democracy in theory and practice, focusing on the potential of new democratic innovations, the challenge of trans-national democracy, and the changing relationship between citizens and the state
