Course Description

This programme comprises two elements: an opportunity to investigate current debates about the changing nature of global politics and a broad training in social science methods. This training conforms to the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Guidelines for Postgraduate Training.

ESRC 1+3 Studentships are intended for those students wishing to undertake research towards a PhD. Students are required to undertake a master's degree, which provides research training relevant to their area of study during the first year of study (e.g. the MSc Global Politics (Research) or the MSc Citizenship and Governance (Research)). During the following three years of study, research is undertaken towards a PhD.

• Survey design methods

Two optional modules from

• A wide range in either the Politics and International Relations or the Sociology and Social Policy division

And

• Dissertation

Entry requirements

• Upper second-class honours degree or equivalent
