The Programme has been established for over 30 years. It is in the School of Psychology at the University of Southampton. Trainees register for a three-year Programme leading to a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
This programme provides a professional qualification and confers eligibility for Chartered Clinical Psychologist status, enabling you to work within the NHS. You will be funded, via employment, as a trainee clinical psychologist with the NHS for the three years of training. The clinical component of the programme reflects BPS requirements for core skills and competences. NHS clinical placement work covers the whole age range and level of severity of presentation. The taught component includes lectures, seminars, workshops and individual tutorials.
Core modules
Plus: NHS experience within adult clinical services (including older adults), child and adolescent, learning disability and specialist services (e.g. psychosis, specialist psychotherapies, eating disorders, neuropsychology)
