The Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit (CBU) is an institution of around 120 scientists, students and visiting workers, funded primarily by the MRC. Their research programme investigates fundamental human psychological functions and their neural substrates in domains such as attention, memory, language, and emotion.
Key research areas
- Conduct behavioural experiments to probe the functional properties of psychological systems and build computer models of their operation.
- Carry out neuropsychological and neuroimaging (fMRI, MEG, EEG) studies of the underlying neural mechanisms in the brain.
- Explore the clinical implications of our research for patient therapy and rehabilitation.
Research collaborations
There are substantial contacts with other experimental, clinical and neuroscience groups in the University,
including:
- the Departments of Experimental Psychology, Neurology, and Psychiatry
- the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre.
