Course description

This is a three-year, full-time BSc programme that gives you a comprehensive general coverage of the central topics of psychology. A series of compulsory course units in Years 1 and 2 give you a thorough overview of the central theoretical ideas and empirical findings in psychology.

In the final year of study we have a wide range of specialised course units, in addition to your research project. We devote considerable attention to training in the skills required to carry out psychological investigations by means of practical classes and instruction in research methods, statistics and the use of computers.

Career opportunities

Psychology is an extremely popular choice of degree subject. Around 15 to 20 percent of psychology graduates will complete postgraduate courses and training, and become professional, chartered psychologists. The majority of psychology graduates will work in other professions where they are using the skills they have gained on their course.
The qualification is appropriate for developing specialist careers in educational, social care and health settings and can be a route onto professional postgraduate training.
