This Master's degree in Ecumenical Studies (MESt) aims to educate students in the three major Christian traditions (Orthodoxy, Catholicism, and Protestantism), and to facilitate students' engagement with the challenges and possibilities of inter-traditional dialogue and cooperation. Students will be introduced to key aspects of biblical and theological interpretation, as well as poignant developments in Church history, in order to equip them with the tools necessary to make advances in the interest of ecumenism.
Academic Requirements
Applicants to the Master's Programme in Ecumenical Studies (MESt) must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited university. This degree must be in one of the following fields: Catholic Theology, History of Religion, Islamic Studies, Jewish Studies, Old-Catholic Theology, Philosophy of Religion, Protestant Theology, Religious Education, Religious Studies, Sociology of Religion or another related field.
Language Requirement
Applicants must possess sufficient mastery of the English language to allow them to undertake the course. Such mastery is to be demonstrated by a certificate of the “Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)” with an outcome of at least 550 (on the paper-based test) or 213 (on the computer-based test), or 79-80 (on the internet based test) or comparable results (e.g. a 5.5 on the IELTS; or a Grade A on the Cambridge ESOL Examinations (CESOLE), level FCE).
