Course overview
The BSc Audiology degree programme is a four-year undergraduate programme that combines science and health care. It is the pre-registration entry route for undergraduates. The programme provides you with the clinical and scientific skills needed to commence a dynamic and successful career in audiology.
The BSc Audiology course provides you with clinical training underpinned by a strong foundation in the fundamental sciences. They also aim to develop your capacity for independent learning, critical thinking, and reflective and evidence-based practice, as well as problem solving and teamwork.
UK and EU students do not pay tuition fees and they are eligible to apply for means-tested bursaries; they are also paid around £12,000 during the placement year. The award-winning BSc Audiology at Southampton provides clinical training underpinned by a strong foundation in the physical, biological and behavioural sciences, using a variety of teaching methods, including problem-based and discovery learning.
The research project in year four provides an exciting opportunity for in-depth study on a chosen topic, as well as making a valuable contribution to audiology science. Career opportunities for Southampton graduates are excellent. Approximately 80 per cent of our students obtain job offers in their preferred area, usually the NHS. The remaining 20 per cent typically obtain offers for further study, including fast-track degrees in medicine and PhDs.
