The CSE Master's programme is built as a modular system, giving students the possibility to select their courses and periods of practical training according to their own interests and ambitions.
The first semester is designed to create a common interdisciplinary basis for all students. It consists of compulsory basic core courses (BCC) in the fields of physics, mathematics and scientific computing.
In the second semester, students can choose a certain number of optional core courses and advanced specialisation courses. Specialisation courses take two semesters and can be selected from a broad spectrum of topics covering theoretical as well as application-oriented problems. They focus on engineering sciences with a strong orientation towards scientific computing and include additional courses in mathematics and computer sciences.
In the final semester, students work on their Master's thesis which can be completed either at the university, e.g. in combination with a research project, or in close collaboration with industry. German students, who are expected to spend one semester of their course abroad, may write their Master's thesis at a foreign partner university.
