The University of Amsterdam's (UvA) Master's programme in Forensic Science, offered by the Faculty of Science, is unique in the Netherlands. The programme distinguishes itself from most international Master's programmes in Forensic Science in that it builds on a range of general science backgrounds, not on a specific forensic science Bachelor's programme.
The Master's programme in Forensic Science is designed to train students to become researchers with a thorough knowledge of forensics. Graduates are therefore encouraged to pursue PhD study.
Graduates can also continue to careers in related fields such as environmental research, investigative research, and quality control for food authorities.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in the field of exact sciences, computer sciences or life sciences.
Applicants with Bachelor's degrees in other fields may also be admitted. Eligibility depends on the nature of the programme and curriculum.
