- Fundamentals of optical effects and materials:
- ray optics, optical electromagnetism, guided waves, light-matter interaction in dilute and condensed matter, nonlinear optics, quantum optics, wave propagation

- optomechatronics (3D metrology, surface remote sensing, advances in optical fabrication, adaptive optics, optomechanical design)

Students are trained for technical or scientific positions in an academic or industrial environment specialised in optics or using optics. Ph.D. studies are a natural extension of the course.
