About the programme

Students of the master course in Photonics are expected to have a high-quality bachelor degree or diploma in Physics or Engineering, e.g. in Electronics, Optoelectronics, Mechatronics, or Optometry. A course in "fundamentals of optics" will provide sufficient basic knowledge of optical techniques for all participants. Further mandatory and optional courses will acquaint students with all fields of modern photnics, such as

Optical fibre and communication systems
Lasers and light sources
Optical design
Non-linear optics
Analogue and digital signal processing
Optics technology (e.g. material surface coatings)
Unterferometry and testing
Biophotonics

Admission requirments

A BSc degree (or equivalent) of substantial quality and level.
An adequate Grade Point Average, including a confirmation by the last University
that the GPA is above average.
For applicants who are not English native speakers: a language test, e.g.
TOEFL-score is strongly recommended.
