This ESRC-recognised programme provides you with interdisciplinary study skills in the field of population science and the analysis of demographic phenomena. You will learn about population change, how it affects lives and policy decisions, and how to analyse population dynamics. It functions as a general MSc and provides vocational training for professional demographers or those with an interest in a research career.
The MSc comprises eight modules and a dissertation. A compulsory module in Critical perspectives in contemporary demography and implications for policy is followed by further modules which lay down the foundation of demographic methodology and social science research methods. There is a large selection of optional modules, exploring substantive demographic issues that face society today, as well as technical modules in Advanced statistical computing, Analysis of complex data, Multilevel modelling and Survival analysis.
