The architecture of the programme comprises four Module Areas:

The Common Module Area (M1) comprises two theory and two methodology modules that are identical to the modules offered for the M.A. International Communication.

The Specific Module Area (M2) compromises three modules in the M.A. Comparative Politics & Sociology.

The Optional Module Area (M3) is covered by any postgraduate course from the social sciences or humanities at Jacobs University Bremen.

The Research Module Area (M4) is covered by the Research Colloquium that is offered each semester.

Each module is covered by at least one course per year. This course must provide the kinds of insights indicated in the general module description but can vary in focus regarding the area of exemplification chosen to demonstrate the required insights. A particular focus may be indicated as a subtitle to the module title.
