This interdisciplinary programme provides you with a grounding in social research methods enabling you to go on to doctoral study at Sussex or elsewhere. Fully consistent with the research-training framework of the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), this MSc covers the philosophical and theoretical context for social science research, research design and ethics, and both quantitative and qualitative research skills.
UK entrance requirements
A first- or upper second-class undergraduate honours degree in a relevant discipline (although applicants from other backgrounds may be considered). Applicants should submit an outline (two to three pages) of their research interests.
Overseas entrance requirements
Sussex receives applications from all over the world and is therefore very experienced in assessing the qualifications offered by students from outside the UK.

English language requirements
IELTS 6.5, with not less than 6.5 in Writing and 6.0 in the other sections. Internet TOEFL with 90 overall including 24 in Speaking and 25 in Writing. For more information, refer to English language requirements .
