Course details

On this course you will develop your skills in equitation, training and coaching whilst also building your knowledge of equine science and business management. On completion you will have developed a critical understanding of the well-established principles of sport performance and the ways in which they relate to equitation.

Career and progression opportunities

Graduates are well-equipped for careers including: yard management, competition grooming, stud management, research assistant, lab technician, lecturing, instructing riding, equine nutritional science, marketing of equine products, equine insurance, mounted police, careers in the racing industry, equine veterinary nursing, equine sports coaching, equine events management and equine rehabilitation and therapy. They can also progress to further study at postgraduate level in equine-related subjects.

Entry requirements

  • UCAS tariff: A-levels BBC (typically translates to 280 points in the UCAS tariff). Applicants with only 2 full A-levels or a double award will be considered on an individual basis.
  • ND/C (Level 3): MMP
  • International Baccalaureate: 30 points, specified subjects.
  • QAA-approved access course: acceptable.
  • GCSE (minimum grade C): at least 3 subjects including English language and mathematics or a science.
  • Foundation degree/HND/HNC direct to year 2 or 3 depending on grades.
  • For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.0 overall, 6.0 in writing.
