Film and Video: Theory and Practice is the study of the theory and the practice of film and video cultures and industries. It represents an interdisciplinary collaboration between two fields: media communication and screen studies & film history. This programme offers an innovative combination of film theory and practice. You will have the opportunity to realise film and video production projects within the context of critical and historical studies of film, video and animation.
As well as opportunities in the immediate areas of film and video industries, this programme offers you career opportunities in many other related parts of the media and culture industries, such as television, advertising, journalism, postgraduate study and teaching.
The minimum requirements for entry for Level 1 entry is 200 UCAS tariff points from: A/AS level (Including 2 A2 passes), GNVQ, AVCE, Scottish Highers, International Baccalaureate. European Baccalaureate, BTEC / SCOTEC Diploma, Relevant Access Course or successful completion of the Level 0. Other qualifications, including overseas, may be considered.
Applicants who do not fulfil the admission requirements for Level 1 may be considered for entry into Level 0. Applicants should have 40 UCAS tariff points from GCE A2 or equivalent.
Overseas students must be able to understand and express themselves in both written and spoken English and some evidence e.g. TOEFL at 550 or an IELTS score of 6.0, with no skill level below 5, would be required.
