Film Studies is the study of the theory and history of film, video cultures and film industries. It is taken as part of a 2-subject degree in conjunction with another subject within the humanities, such as literature, cultural studies or media studies, and represents an interdisciplinary collaboration between these fields.
Typically 3 years full time; 4-6 years part-time. Upon a foundation of relevant theory andhistory , students choose from a wide prospectus of subjects and approaches, including film/video theory and history and work-based learning. In level 3, students will complete an independent dissertation research project.
As well as opportunities in the immediate areas of film and video industries, this programme offers career opportunities in many other related parts of the media and culture industries such as television, advertising, journalism and teaching.
