The European Media Culture programme is a joint-degree programme between the Bauhaus University in Weimar and the Université Lumière, Lyon 2 in France. This programme is dedicated to the problems of culture in the age of medialisation and globalisation, a culture that can no longer be viewed within the confines of national borders. The objective of this programme is to study the idea of Europe as articulated in and through the media in the debate between national identity and (neo-colonial) globalisation processes. The historical dimensions of these processes of media and culture, during the course of which a European culture has been emerging, are of core interest.
The intercultural quality of the European Media Culture programme of studies is achieved through its bi-national organisation as a joint programme of the Bauhaus University Weimar and the University of Lyon, supported by the "Deutsch-Französische Hochschule" (DFH-UFA).
